4 Bedroom Detached House
Old Port Store, Stairhaven, Glenluce, Newton Stewart, Dumfries And Galloway, DG8
Property Description
Tenure: Freehold
The Old Port Store, a former grain store, was built around 1820 and has a number of original features including the narrow windows and internal beams, which reflect this charming stone building's former purpose within the community. In addition double doors on the second floor, now with a Juliet balcony, reflect a time when supplies would be lowered from a gabled hoist door and transported to boats in the former Stairhaven harbour, before embarking on their onward voyage.
The main entrance is through double doors which open directly in to the open plan kitchen/dining room, a coastal themed room which opens to both a utility room, adjacent wc cloakroom and in to the sitting room. The sitting room is situated on the shore side of the main property where the picture bay window, with side glass door, frames the view, and along with the four skylights, flood the room with natural light. A patio area is situated in front of the sitting room ideal for dining al fresco during the warmer months.
The utility room can also be entered directly from outside, providing storage for outdoor boots and clothing, as well an area away from the main house to remove sand from both feet and paws.
On the first floor there are two bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms, and double doors opening to external steps, and a further two bedrooms with en-suite bathroom facilities on the second floor.
The Old Port Store sits under a slate roof, has oil fired central heating powered by a Worcester Heatslave 26/32 boiler and has double glazing, within timber casements.
There is a right of access between the road and the neighbouring property, Harbour Cottage, as indicated in the Site Plan.
SITUATION
The Old Port Store is situated adjacent to Luce Bay in the quiet coastal hamlet of Stairhaven, Dumfries and Galloway. A small row of houses overlook the coastline, in this predominantly rural area of south west Scotland.

This area of south west Scotland is home to some beautiful scenery, with numerous coastal villages around Luce Bay, and the nearby Galloway Forest Park offers walks and mountain bike trails, and is part of the UK's first Dark Sky Park, giving it breath-taking views of the night sky. Further west Logan Botanic Gardens, Scotland's most exotic gardens and award winning bistro is approximately 16.5miles from the Old Port Store. A variety of tropical plants flourish here in the warmer climate, a result of the Gulf Stream flowing through the region.
