Morton Manor It is believed the original Manor was built in 1249, since when the property has substantially changed including the addition of a Tudor Longhouse, with changes in the Georgian era and in 1903 when there was a strong Arts & Crafts influence. The house is Listed, Grade II and benefits from particularly fine reception rooms and a range of characterful features ranging from oak panelling to open fireplaces, with William De Morgan tiles in the dining room.

The house has been beautifully refurbished and modernised by the current owners, including renewal of plumbing and heating, re-wiring and installation of new bathrooms and a bespoke kitchen.

The reception rooms offer a perfect balance of formal entertaining and family living space with an elegant, well proportioned drawing room with south-facing French doors opening to the gardens, an impressive oak panelled dining room and two further reception rooms including a sitting room and library. There is a good flow of space between the family kitchen, dining room and sitting room.

On the first floor, the spacious master bedroom suite incorporates a bathroom and shower room and has delightful views over the garden. The six further bedrooms, including a guest bedroom suite with adjacent nursery/dressing room, all have views over the gardens.

There is a self-contained 1 bedroom flat which can easily be incorporated into the main house.

The Cottage The separate thatched two bedroom cottage has its own private garden and is ideal for providing a letting income or for staff/guest accommodation.

Outbuildings The extensive outbuildings include a fabulous party room with open fireplace overlooking the gardens. In addition there is a series of further period outbuildings including stabling and a large garage/boat store. Adjacent to the house is the original Granary on staddle stones with a dove loft above.

Gardens The gardens form a stunning setting for the house. There is a Tudor rose garden, a sunken garden, a lake overlooked by one of the largest plane trees in England and a wonderful range of flowering plants and specimen trees including rhododendrons, azaleas, camellia, magnolia, Japanese acer and magnolia grandiflora. To the west to the house is the original tennis lawn.

Adjacent to the gated driveway is a wooded bank with pathways leading to vantage points overlooking the grounds. To the southern side of the property is a paddock of approximately 1.5 acres.

There is a further range of garden stores and green houses and a hexagonal gazebo with tiled roof.

This peaceful, attractive setting has been successfully used as a ‘licenced venue’ for wedding ceremonies in the garden, followed by receptions for up to 300 in a marquee on the main lawn. Smaller events use the party room with its fully equipped kitchen.

The Area Located within an Area of Outstanding Beauty to the south west of Brading, the property adjoins some spectacular downland, ideal for extensive walking and riding. Sandown beach is one of the most spectacular on the Island and is only 6 minutes away.
